Colour your diet with fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants that may help protect you from chronic diseases. Compared to those who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat a more generous amounts as part of a healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of chronic diseases including stroke, cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.
To eat a healthy variety, think about colour. Eating fruits and vegetables of different colours gives your body a wide range of valuable nutrients like fibre, folate, potassium and Vitamins A and C. Some examples include green spinach, orange, sweet potato, red beetroot, lotus roots, yellow corn, purple cabbage, red watermelon and onions.
