What about claims of counterfeit Maggi cubes?

We are aware of inaccurate messages being circulated via social media claiming that counterfeit Maggi cubes are being sold in Senegal. The messages claim that these alleged products, originating in China, are harmful to health.

This is an old message that has been circulating for several years. There is no truth to the claims being made.

The quality and safety of our products is a non-negotiable priority for Nestlé. Our consumers can continue to buy Maggi products, manufactured according to our high quality standards, via regular authorised distribution channels.

What does Nestlé do about claims of counterfeit products?

Regardless of the truth of these allegations, we take any evidence or claims about counterfeiting seriously. It is an illegal activity that misleads consumers. When we are made aware of counterfeit Nestlé products, we work closely with competent national authorities to ensure their removal from the market. Authorities in Senegal have not informed us of any concerns regarding this issue.
