Nestlé Lanka Managing Director, Alois Hofbauer, to take over Nestlé Malaysia and Singapore operations

In line with a stream of global Senior Management changes, the Nestlé Group has appointed Alois Hofbauer, currently Managing Director of Nestlé Lanka PLC, as Head of Nestlé’s operations in the Malaysia and Singapore Region. Mr. Hofbauer will take on his new role effective February 01, 2013.

Mr. Ganesan Ampalavanar, a Malaysian citizen and currently Nestlé’s Head of Sales for the South Asia Region, will take over from Mr. Hofbauer as Managing Director of Nestlé Lanka on January 01, 2013. Joining Nestlé Malaysia in 1991, Mr. Ampalavanar moved through successive appointments in Brand Management to eventually take on the post of Commercial Manager, Confectionary. He was appointed Sales Director for Nestlé Malaysia in 2003 and took up his first international assignment with his current post in 2008.

Mr. Hofbauer has been with Nestlé Lanka since 2010. A part of the Nestlé worldwide group for over 20 years, he holds an immensely strong leadership track record in country management and a broad based understanding of business in Asia.

Under his stewardship, Nestlé Lanka has seen a 20% growth and won a number of prestigious accolades for sustainable performance and contribution to the country’s rural development, most notably its crowning as the country’s Best Corporate Citizen for 2011. Under his tenure, the company celebrated its highest ever fresh milk intake of over five million liters in the month of September 2012 and expects to pay LKR 2.6 billion, the highest in Nestlé’s history, to the rural farmers this year.
