Nestlé celebrated Avurudu with its staff at its head offices premises recently with the participation of Nestlé Lanka’s Managing Director Shivani Hegde. The Avurudu activities commenced with the ‘kiri ithireema’ and the lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the traditional Avurudu breakfast.
Thereafter the tradition of ‘Ganu Denu’ – one of the most cherished traditions as the act of giving and receiving from those who are known or trusted - was conducted at the ‘Gemi Gedara’. Staff enthusiastically participated in the Avurudu games, including ‘kana mutti’, ‘kotta pora”, coconut scraping contest, Nestomalt drinking contest, and ‘onchili pedima’.
