Ingredients:

  • 250 rice flour
  • 250 mung bean - wash , dry and roast over low heat
  • 250g sugar
  • 1 cup treacle
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp roasted & crushed sweet cumin ( maaduru)
  • Coconut oil for frying
 

For batter:

  • 100g rice flour
  • 3 tbsp Maggi Coconut Milk Powder dissolved in 1 cup of water
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Grind half the amount of mung beans to a fine flour
  2. Grind the rest of mung beans in to a coarse flour with small pieces
  3. In a large saucepan combine the treacle, salt, sugar and water. Bring to boil
  4. Add the mung flour, rice flour and sweet cumin and mix well .Cook until it becomes a thick paste
  5. Shape the mixture into diamond shape
  6. Mix all the batter ingredients with Maggi Coconut Milk Powder.
  7. Heat the oil
  8. Dip the mung balls in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
