Nestlé Kedella Shows: Enhancing lives and educating homes
Having set the bar for nutritional education since its inception in 2006, the Kedella shows organized exclusively by Nestlé Lanka have become a fundamental source of information on culinary factors for many housewives around Sri Lanka. Collaborating with organizations such as the local Housewives Associations, Key Housing Complexes, Home Science students and teachers of various leading schools across the country and other ladies associations and unions; the Kedella shows have grown exponentially to reach out to thousands of households in the last five years. Through the Kedella shows Nestlé consumers are afforded the opportunity to meet key staff members of the Nestlé team and exchange views, make queries and generally be given “an ear”, thereby giving valuable insights into consumer perceptions and values and forming a valuable source of first-hand information in the product development and improvement process.
Each show contains standard features such as cookery demonstrations of popular food items using Nestlé products; Nestlé Nutrition Corners that offer participants diet counseling and the opportunity to check their BMI (Body Mass Index); sampling of Nestlé products which possess a nutritional advantage (for example – Calcium in MAGGI, less sugar in MILO, more vitamins and iron in NESPRAY, etc); and a presentation on a nutrition related topic such as weight management, malnutrition, etc by a local authority on the subject.
‘Kedella’ Statistics: Good To Know!
- Each show averages between five hundred to a thousand consumers, often exceeding this amount
- Shows are organised exclusively by Nestlé Lanka PLC.
- Established as a platform to communicate Nestlé’s NHW offering in an easy to understand manner.
- The shows communicate the recipes demonstrated clearly, through the Nestlé Nutrition Compass.
With the benefit of each recipe explained in the context of the Nestlé nutrition compass found on the back of all Nestlé products – Good Question, Good to Know, Good to Remember and the nutritional information panel - the Kedella shows have empowered many entrepreneurial enterprises. A host of confectionary and dairy based food item producers, employing the Nestlé products, recipes and techniques discussed on the shows, have emerged (thriving one might add!), thanks to Consumer Services’ successful communication that everyone can access Nutrition, Health and Wellness without compromising on taste. The Consumer Services team also believes the shows have, over the years, provided a great conduit for consumer feedback and suggestions on improvements.
