Ingredients:

For the honey mixture:

  • 250g sugar
  • 1 ½ cups Kithul Treacle
  • 4-5 Crushed Cardamoms
  • ½ tbsp. Roasted and crushed sweet cumin (Maduru)
  • 1 ½ cups Water
 

For the Pittu:

Method

Method of preparation for Pittu

  1. Mix the scraped coconut and Maggi Coconut Milk Powder with salt
  2. Add rice flour and make in to fine pieces and steam as Pittu
  3. While the Pittu is still warm break in to small pieces

Method of preparation for the honey mixture

  1. Remove 3 tbsp sugar from the 250g sugar & caramelize
  2. Add the treacle into the pan with the remaining sugar, cardomons, sweet cumin and the water
  3. Stir until the mixture begins to thicken
  4. Add the Pittu and cook while stirring all the time
  5. When the mixture is thick , pour into a greased pan and flatten to ½ inch thickness
  6. Allow to cool and cut in to squares
