Nestlé Lanka’s efforts in local dairy development recognised at MASSCO Awards Ceremony 2015

Nestlé Lanka was recognised for its efforts towards the development of the local dairy industry at the MASSCO Awards Ceremony 2015, receiving the award for ‘Empowering Dairy Development in Sri Lanka’ from Hon. Karu Jayasooriya, Minister of Public Administration of Sri Lanka.

As Sri Lanka’s largest private sector buyer of fresh milk, Nestlé Lanka plays a significant role in the development of the local dairy industry, working closely with dairy farmers since 1984.To date, the company purchases fresh milk on a daily basis from 18,000 dairy farmers and has 1,200 milk collection points based in strategic locations island wide, making a significant impact on the rural economy. Significantly, Nestlé also celebrated 30 years of empowering local dairy farmers in 2014, recognising 1,200 of its farmers for their outstanding contribution towards the development of Sri Lanka’s dairy industry.

The MASSCO Awards Ceremony is conducted annually by the Lanka Mass Communicators Association and pays tribute to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the wellbeing of the country.
